Speaker 2 00:00:09 Indeed. Speaker 1 00:00:11 Hello and welcome back to Tuesday Night Gaming, starring Zach, Alana and Matt, and possibly Jay later. Hello. Today we are talking about the Star Girl Series finale, Speaker 2 00:00:27 Although not the last appearance of Star Girl because they're gonna be on Titans. Speaker 1 00:00:31 I heard that was only a rumor, Alana. Speaker 2 00:00:33 No, it's confirmed. Speaker 1 00:00:37 I do not know about that. Speaker 2 00:00:39 I don't know what you're talking about. You Speaker 1 00:00:41 Posted pictures of her, like Yeah, Speaker 2 00:00:43 They were like in Vancouver or wherever. They, they film Toronto. Speaker 1 00:00:47 All right. But Toronto. Toronto, regardless. Today we are talking about Star Girl, the end, but not the end. Speaker 2 00:00:56 Never the end. Speaker 1 00:00:57 Never, never the end. I don't think that, I don't think the, um, the Titans thing is gonna have anything to do with what was set up. Almost Speaker 2 00:01:05 Certainly not. Speaker 1 00:01:06 Yeah. That would be cool though. The, the rumor is Jeff Johns is really pulling for this show. Speaker 2 00:01:11 I mean, if there's any show that's his literal baby, it's this one literal baby. Speaker 1 00:01:17 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Yeah. Try to kill our bounty, dude. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:01:22 Guys, if I, if I died in a plane crash, would you make a TV show about me that wasn't me, but was like a superhero base on me? Speaker 1 00:01:29 Sure. If I, if I was able to <laugh>, if I was, if I created superhero shows for a living, it was about me, but not really about me. Yeah. Cool. Yeah. Actually, guys, do you, do you know anything about the crash that killed Courtney Johns? Speaker 2 00:01:44 Yeah, I do. I read about it. Speaker 1 00:01:46 Yeah. I, I watched a mini documentary about it. Heads up, dude. A mini documentary about it. Yeah. Like a, like a 20, 20, 48 hours kind of thing. Speaker 2 00:02:01 Interesting. It was, it was a mechanical failure. Right. Speaker 1 00:02:03 Well, so what happened was the plane was sitting in the heat for like hours and hours and hours, and then it built up like this gas in the, in the fuel tank that like ignited. Whoa. Ew. It was pretty, it was pretty wild. But what was crazy was that people watched the plane explode mm-hmm. <affirmative> and then thought they saw a missile hit it. So there was a whole conspiracy theory that the government had shot it down for some reason and covered it up. But that of course, turned out to be bogus. Yeah. Cause people, because you can't trust the eyewitnesses. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> interesting. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, but I did, I, but at the time, I did not know that that was the one that Courtney Johns was killed in. So it was a weird meeting of the month. Oh. It was just an unrelated, you were just watching a documentary. We had a plane explosion and the conspiracy theories around it. Yeah. That's really more of what it was about. Interesting. All right. So anyway, so Star Girl. I don't have detailed notes about it. I do. I do. I do. All right, Matt. So, uh, take us, take it. What did you do? What did you guys think of the epi? What did you guys think of it overall? Speaker 2 00:03:16 I pretty not, pretty not great. I Speaker 1 00:03:18 Was, I was a little, I was a little underwhelmed. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, I did like, I did like the, the final, I did like this stinger though. Singer was nice. It was a nice stinger <laugh>. It was, yeah. I mean, it kind of, it felt like it was getting back to the show's roots where it was like positivity, bracing, superheroes instead of like, certain other shows it, instead of being embarrassed by it. Yeah. Um, you know, every, everything works out for everybody. So I, I don't know. I liked it. It didn't, yeah. I guess we'll talk about it at the time. So, yeah. A lot. You were underwhelmed. Speaker 2 00:03:52 Yeah. Yeah. Uh, they clearly had a high budget for effects, but did they though? Yeah. Cuz like, even Wildcat was glowing like purple on her feet. Speaker 1 00:04:04 Yeah. Which she never, Speaker 2 00:04:06 She like never does usually Speaker 1 00:04:08 Mm-hmm. <affirmative> Speaker 2 00:04:10 Attacking. We had all those like, icle effects. They're Speaker 1 00:04:12 Pretty far away Speaker 2 00:04:13 Where he like turned into a cloud. Speaker 1 00:04:15 Yeah. But, well, so they had a high budget and yet at the same time, the final fight was pretty disappointing. It Speaker 2 00:04:21 Was pretty bad. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:04:22 Yeah. That was the, that was the worst part of the episode for me, was the final fight. It was, it was easily the worst final fight of all three seasons, including the one against the clip Sal. Yeah. And I thought, and I didn't think that one was particularly good either, but it was better than this ghost, um, Thunderbolt <laugh>, this guy toast. No, I mean, I, if I recall correctly, and I haven't gone back and watched the episode, um, the, uh, I remember in the fight with the clip, so everybody like, has their moment aga to fight against him. Like, they all take their shot. Kinda like doomsday in the comics. Right. Man, I can't hit the broad side of a barn. <laugh>. There you go. Uh, but in this one, like for example, you guys know I'm a big Rick fan. He does like, absolutely nothing. He like sucks. Yeah. He does. Higher time. Speaker 2 00:05:16 Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And we, like, we thought Grundy was gonna show up as a fight. He doesn't, Speaker 1 00:05:21 Well, we more people showing up for a fight isn't necessarily better. Speaker 2 00:05:25 Well, I feel like for a finale, if like Jeb City and Shade showed up, we would've been like, yay, we like that. No, Speaker 1 00:05:32 See, that's what, that's, that's something I didn't like about the last season, but yeah. I but it's just so expected. <laugh>. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:05:45 So doesn't it make sense that Syl Vista when he's resurrected is like fine? Speaker 1 00:05:50 Well, we don't know that. He is fine. Speaker 2 00:05:51 He is great. He is muscular. His brain is intact, Speaker 1 00:05:57 Fully formed. He asks about Pat. I mean, that was, Speaker 2 00:05:59 You know, all they do is inject him with some something and he's like alive again. They cured death. It's like Star Speaker 1 00:06:06 Trek. Yeah. The bad guy in the darkness. Speaker 2 00:06:08 Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:06:11 Um, yeah. And I actually liked their explanation where they were like, Sylvester, his body, his body was alive, but his brain wasn't. And like, that makes sense. Right. You can't just be dead and then they stick a needle in your arm and then you're fine. You can't be dead for like, how long was it <laugh>? Like 10 years. Like, like decades. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I'm like, why is his body, did they like preserve it or something? Speaker 2 00:06:34 Yeah, that's what I'm, his body looks great. Oh, the staff. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:06:38 I can't remember what was truth and what was lies. <laugh>. I thought you meant more like it at the end. No, I thought your questions were like his brain being forced to relive his last moments over and over and over. Well, Speaker 2 00:06:48 That was pretty dark. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:06:49 And then he's fine. Speaker 2 00:06:50 Well, we don't know if he's fine. No, Speaker 1 00:06:52 I'm talking about before. Let's go Zach, before he gets rest or Speaker 2 00:06:55 Before I thread, did you guys start a new game? Speaker 1 00:06:57 We're in the middle, middle of the game. So, uh, there's 10 people left. Speaker 2 00:07:01 Earl, hurry up and kill him. Speaker 1 00:07:03 Okay, we'll, uh, yeah. And so, yes. And you could call his brain is cause he's like recognizing ic. He's like, I to call you a piece of shit. Ah, yeah. <laugh>. So that was weird. Um, Zach, did you like the part and Alana too? <laugh>, did you like to part where ultra human I is. Like, you're so gregarious. Everybody loves you. I bet you'll be president someday. To Speaker 2 00:07:29 Whom, is that like a reference to like, Speaker 1 00:07:31 To they to the golden age? Speaker 2 00:07:35 Who's president? The golden age. Speaker 1 00:07:36 That's exactly what happens in the, in the golden age. The ultra human eye takes down, takes control of the body of a avail of a superhero and becomes president. Speaker 2 00:07:47 He does? Speaker 1 00:07:48 Yeah. Love side guy right next to me. Dude, you boss. Speaker 2 00:07:55 Wait, do you mean like the golden age? Like the comic, like the golden Age or like that the actual, the golden Speaker 1 00:07:59 Age. Oh, James Robinson. Yeah. Golden ages. Remember when Franklin Dior Roosevelt was president? He was ultra human. Speaker 2 00:08:06 I remember. Speaker 1 00:08:07 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:08:08 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:08:09 Course. Speaker 2 00:08:11 Okay. So you're talking about the Golden Age by James Robinson? Yeah. Yeah. That's an important clarification. Speaker 1 00:08:18 Thank you. Oh, shoot, I got hit. Bad dude. That's an interesting reference. Dude. If you, if you're right, I'm pretty sure I am. That'd be pretty wild. Yeah. I don't know. Speaker 2 00:08:30 They also do surgery with like, no anesthesia. I'm like, isn't him like right into the around gonna mess up your surgery? No. Speaker 1 00:08:37 He, his head is secure. He still secured. But I just didn't like that whole season. It was too dark. It's too dark. Yeah. It hurt my sensitive feelings. You're like, lighten up. This makes me sad. This story, girl. Come on. Speaker 2 00:08:50 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:08:54 All right. Uh, um, okay. So did you guys like how he was worried about Pat? His first thought was, yeah. What about Pat? His first thought was for Pat as it should be. Speaker 2 00:09:04 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:09:05 Why this dude and above us, Speaker 2 00:09:06 Courtney recaps the situation for the dumb audience. Who doesn't remember? And they're like, shoot, we gotta find Pat Speaker 1 00:09:12 Called. Every issue is someone's first issue. Yeah. Yeah, that's right. Speaker 2 00:09:17 But they get a, Speaker 1 00:09:18 I have a problem with that. Speaker 2 00:09:19 They get a call from Cameron. Oh Speaker 1 00:09:21 Crap. Speaker 2 00:09:22 And Cameron has been told that Starman and Ice Cole have passed up their differences and they're gonna fight the Ultraman. I, and he should tell Courtney that they're at the junkyard and Cameron being the dumb idiot. Mm-hmm. Uh, he's like, yeah, okay. Speaker 1 00:09:40 <laugh>. Go like, buddy, thanks. Spike's Speaker 2 00:09:44 Coming in. So they suit up, they go to the junkyard and then they fight and they're like, Hey, maybe Artemis will show up. She doesn't Speaker 1 00:09:50 Mm-hmm. Speaker 2 00:09:51 <affirmative>. Uh, I mean, it's kind of funny that they lamps shade that cuz she does tend to do that. But then we expected her to show up and she didn't. Speaker 1 00:09:57 Yeah. But, but we should've known our old buddy Jeff Johnson. Not let us, not let us down by forgetting that Artemis. I did. I did like that. Um, that line though, where she's like, oh, they'll probably show up just when we at least expect her or something like that. Speaker 2 00:10:09 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:10:10 Hmm. Oh, did you go back to the lobby? Yeah. A little lamb shaving. Yeah. Um, so I, I didn't like how Pad dug out. I was like, this is so dumb. He was obviously tied up. I hate it. But then they went back and explained it later again. Like, star Girl is good about that stuff. About explaining plot hole. I think, I think overall it's a pretty good show for like plot holes and things like that. I don't think that compared to some of the other ones we cover on this show. <laugh>, like Titan, that's a name. Any names, but yeah, Titan, this Picard, Speaker 2 00:10:40 We don't think it's legitimate when a bunch of bats pick up Night Wing's Body and take it to the Lazarus pit Speaker 1 00:10:46 Anyway. Yeah. It was very, it's a very superhero that he's like, oh, I figured out this trick to escape. And then I made it at the last minute. You know, like if Adam West Batman had had explained that, I don't think anyone would've batted an eye. That's true. Good thing I knew how to dislocate my thumbs. Speaker 2 00:11:05 <laugh>. It's also pretty rough how it's like, okay, so Pat digs himself out of the grave, goes to get stripe. Stripe is fixed and then gets the junkyard. Yeah. Right on time, Speaker 1 00:11:16 Right? Speaker 2 00:11:16 Yeah. Like Speaker 1 00:11:16 Really it's superhero. Come on. Speaker 2 00:11:19 Okay. Speaker 1 00:11:19 I was perfectly fine with that because like, he wasn't gonna go without Stripe. Speaker 2 00:11:23 I'm also surprised Stripe can like, take a hit from the car or the, not the car. The co in the garage. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:11:33 I mean it was, robot was built for combat, so Speaker 2 00:11:35 It's not like built out of like vibranium. Speaker 1 00:11:39 So you would've, you would've been happier if he hit it once with the staff and then the whole robot fell apart. Like half. Speaker 2 00:11:45 Why don't, maybe they should explain it. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:11:49 No, I was, I was pretty satisfied with the, I was somewhat satisfied with the Starman stripe fight. I feel like it wasn't much of a fight. It was basically just stripe getting blasted. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. It would've been better if it had been a little bit more back and forth. Speaker 2 00:12:03 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:12:03 You know, they also didn't totally take advantage of being in a junker. Like they threw a car around like once. Speaker 2 00:12:10 Yep. Speaker 1 00:12:11 It would've been nice to have had him more. Yeah. It was cool. Um, also star, what do you guys think of Starman versus Star girl? It was a neat idea. I almost would've preferred some more trash talking where he is like, Courtney, this staff isn't yours. You're just a pretender to the throne now. Like me. You know, Speaker 2 00:12:31 It was interesting also that it's like, oh, the power was inside Courtney. All along, all she had to do was decide he wasn't worthy and he would stop working for him. I was like, really? Speaker 1 00:12:41 <laugh>? Speaker 2 00:12:42 That's easy. Speaker 1 00:12:45 You going to your marker, dude. Matt. Matt. All right. So also we got a little bit of her flipping around and I realized it had been so long since we saw her actually do a fight. I had missed that. Speaker 2 00:13:02 Yeah. It, it still wasn't some of her best fighting choreography Speaker 1 00:13:08 That that was. What do you, oh, maybe actually, you know what? I'll save it for the end. My question about that also though, I feel like Yolanda once again got kind of shafted. The only thing thing she did to know was jump over <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:13:23 Yeah. She jumped the grandma and the grandma had a carf follow her. And Yolanda immediately denies responsibility. Okay. Speaker 1 00:13:31 There's a bunch of people over near you, dude. Uh, yeah. Where were you Bonnie? I had to deal with Alison <laugh>. Uh, yeah, the, um, but I agree it was yet another like, accidental death. <laugh>, although convenient, accidental death. Speaker 2 00:13:46 Yes. I mean, brainwave was not accidental. Speaker 1 00:13:50 Yeah, that's true. No, I meant more the icicle death. But I guess that one wasn't, wasn't accidental either. Mm-hmm. Speaker 2 00:13:59 <affirmative> not so much. Speaker 1 00:14:00 Well, I, I, I mentioned you Alana, while we were watching it. Like, is Yolanda about to have another death on her conscience? Speaker 2 00:14:06 <laugh>, she's, Speaker 1 00:14:07 She's fine with it at this point. She's okay. She said, I like when she said I didn't do it, I thought she was gonna say, I didn't do it this time. It wasn't, or it wasn't me this time. Oh God. That would be, that would've been terrible. Speaker 2 00:14:21 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:14:21 Like you said, dude, the show was good about remembering where it's been. Yeah. But not, not, not like play. I think it was supposed to be a dramatic moment. Not a tiki. Did I do that? But I guess yeah, she did kind of say that. So I don't know. But yeah, no, Yolanda got the shaft and so did Rick. Like Rick is like, I'm still gonna kick your ass. I try it, tries to throw one punch and then freezes off. He can't move. Yep. Yeah. It was terrible. Classic. Rick got screwed. No way. Rick, Rick, like la That's what I'm saying is last time in the season finale of season two, he was like, come on. And then he and Grody like, beats beat him up. And I like, feel like they do like a fastball special or something. I got 45 minutes left and they're all for you. That's right. Speaker 2 00:15:06 Yeah. Actually say that. Did he? Speaker 1 00:15:08 Well, not 45 minutes <laugh>. I have some amount of time left and it's all for you. Yeah. I think it was to Solomon Grundy season one. Speaker 2 00:15:16 Yeah, that sounds right. Speaker 1 00:15:17 Yeah. It was awesome. Season one baby. Uh, Speaker 2 00:15:21 That's good. The good old days. Is that you? Oh good. Speaker 1 00:15:26 Uh, but yeah, so, uh, I did like Beth trying to fight the whole old man again. That was good. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:15:33 That Speaker 1 00:15:34 Was, that was funny. Combat mode. Combat turned off. What did we think about Cameron changing science? It was very painful today. Oh. Who was coming? Speaker 2 00:15:43 Yeah. It's, it's fine. It's not, they kind of, you know, they clearly, like, I do wonder what they were gonna do with this. Cause they like had that whole thing where Cindy's like, oh, you had to go to Rage school cuz you're so, such an angry kid. And then that never came back. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:16:00 <laugh>, I, I can't believe I'm actually gonna say this, but I feel like they needed him to say more like, if they him to say something like, dad, you've lied to me. I'm sick of the lies. Speaker 2 00:16:11 I know you killed the Crocs dad. Speaker 1 00:16:13 <laugh>. Yeah. I like, I know everything. Like, you know, Cindy's my future, not Cindy. Courtney's my future now <laugh>. He instead just stands there silently and then he's like, I'm sorry dad. It's, you know. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:16:26 Blah. And then Dad square for chug Speaker 1 00:16:30 <laugh>. Uh, yep. So Grandma got crushed over by the car. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> Jaqui. So Jem stops dragging King again really easily. Well it was cute. Speaker 2 00:16:40 I like this part actually because I mean, I, I like this part. It was kind of a py fight scene cause I clearly didn't wanna spend budget on it again. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, Shiv has some, Cindy has some good lines. You know, see, see what your experiment can do. Dad. Okay. Anyway, daddy. Yeah, she does, but I, I can't, I'm not doing it. <laugh>, um, Speaker 1 00:16:59 Another probably good word. Ruined by the internet, Speaker 2 00:17:01 Right? <laugh>. Um, and then, so like this whole season, you know, Mike's been like, you need to think about your wishes and you need to be precise and you, you know, you have to really, and so finally J's like, fuck that. I'm just gonna use like my willpower. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And it works and it's satisfying to watch. Speaker 1 00:17:17 Yeah. It was cute that the one time that, that he, it is cute that it's the one time that he doesn't get screwed with that, you know? Yeah. The one time he really did said it was nice in the end they do the, like, energy in the eyes and stuff like that. So Yeah. I just, it it would've been better if it going on a li a hair longer. Speaker 2 00:17:35 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:17:36 This guy is a pretty big bad guy. Speaker 2 00:17:38 But I mean, everything was super rushed in this part for sure. Speaker 1 00:17:42 No, sure. Except for, except for the Cameron fighting Jordan, which actually went on too. Lie. Speaker 2 00:17:46 Oh. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. I thought that, I thought it was cash short. Speaker 1 00:17:49 Okay. Hold. There's some boxes here you can use your key on. Speaker 2 00:17:52 I have Speaker 1 00:17:53 A key. Get a street weapon. Yeah, you do. A key. Speaker 2 00:17:56 A key. Speaker 1 00:17:57 Oh, did I win for me? Did you guys like Barb showing up at the crossbow? Yeah. I thought it was, I thought it was gonna be Artem and I think everyone Speaker 2 00:18:03 Did. Yeah, we did too. That Speaker 1 00:18:05 Made sense. But it made sense for Barb too. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. So it's certainly telegraphed earlier. It was nice to be like, I'm right where I belong. Icicle with my family. Didn't they say that? Isn't that from season one? No, it's from Panes four. Oh yeah. Unthinkable. Unthinkable. That everybody should check out. Speaker 2 00:18:24 I think two keys. Zach. Speaker 1 00:18:26 Not a hashtag. Not a sponsor. That's right. Um, but then also when icicles like Barbara, we could still be together. <laugh>. Yeah. He's he's still carrying a torch for Speaker 2 00:18:36 Yeah. It's so gross. Speaker 1 00:18:37 You're obsessed with me. Like, give it up. Dude. I Speaker 2 00:18:40 Wish they had talked about, he was like maybe like brain damaged from being murdered. That would've been a good explanation. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> for his this crazy plot and like thinking Barbara's still into him. Speaker 1 00:18:51 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. That's, that's like, that's that's the, that's the stuff. What a band would do though. This is a typical man. Speaker 2 00:18:58 Any man, a man better not Speaker 1 00:19:01 Do that. I'll, I'll follow you guys in the bike. Woo. Okay. Uh, uh, what else do I have? Okay, so, so then the McKen star fighting, I dunno what to say about that. And then there's a part that I laughed out. Here's a part where I laughed out loud. L o ld. You did? Yes. You did. What? Why is that? So Courtney's like, Courtney's, it's Courtney ha has a hello heart to heart with her mom. And she and the, and her Speaker 2 00:19:26 Mom. We were skipping past the fight scene. Speaker 1 00:19:27 No, no, no. Well we finished that. No. Speaker 2 00:19:29 What about, uh, stripes? He hitting Sylvester with a rock. Speaker 1 00:19:33 Uh, that was kinda intense. I mean, it's not scary. Speaker 2 00:19:36 It was intense. Speaker 1 00:19:37 It's all various different plots. Speaker 2 00:19:39 Well, that's just wrapping up. That's like the last thing that happens in the fight scene because Cameron defeats Jordan and then leaves dramatically. He's like a kid. Do this gurney plot Speaker 1 00:19:51 Guy guys or Speaker 2 00:19:52 Anything? No. Uh, you got it. And then strange. See Yeah. Hits him with the rock, gives him some brain damage. And he is actually later really brain damaged Speaker 1 00:20:01 As it turns out. Yeah. Yeah. He really, really is. No, no. Okay. So this is the part I, so this is the part where I was gonna laugh. Speaker 2 00:20:07 Okay. So they Speaker 1 00:20:08 Have a heart to heart with her mom, and we can come back and talk you about whatever you want. They have the heart to heart with the mom and she's like, the only reason why the staff went with the ultra human eye is because you let it mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Okay. Right. You guys are close, right? Yeah. So they're going, so they go and confront Joelle Cor, uh, and Courtney says, what does she say? The staff doesn't work for you. And then the staff immediately turns off. Speaker 2 00:20:33 Yeah. Oh Speaker 1 00:20:34 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:20:35 It, I, while I talked about that Speaker 1 00:20:37 Yeah. Out though. Speaker 2 00:20:39 Ok. Oh yeah. That's okay. Speaker 1 00:20:40 Yeah. It was really funny. Speaker 2 00:20:42 I was like, all she has to do is say it and it's true. Speaker 1 00:20:45 Then it happens. Yeah. Yeah. It was unbelievable. Well, it reminds me of Wonder Woman in 1984 where she's like, I renounced my wish and gets all our powers back. Yep, yep. Yeah. Exactly. Not a very good comparison. So yeah. So I didn't like that. Okay. Um, yeah. So then, then we, then I, according to my notes, then we have the fights. Do you guys wanna go kill the people over here? Sure. Right. Path fights. Joel Michale, it's Great enemy. Dead ahead. Alana. Put your weapon out. Alana and, and Courtney versus Icicle. And Courtney has like one series of cool jumps and flips and then she basically stop fighting and let's, uh, Cameron. Speaker 2 00:21:27 Cameron do it. Yep. Speaker 1 00:21:28 Highly disappointing. The name of the show is Star Girl, not Speaker 2 00:21:32 Yeah. Star Girl. Not Cameron <laugh>. Yeah. But then after the fight we, the show is like, let's wrap up these plot lines. Dad, Speaker 1 00:21:42 Go, go, go, go, Speaker 2 00:21:43 Go, go, go Yolanda. Call your mom Mike. Meet your mom. <laugh>. No. That everyone talk to their moms. What? It was great. I like, actually, I really like the scene with Mike. I just, yeah. It felt very compressed. Cause everyone's still like injured from the fight. So it's like, I'm sorry, you scheduled this with Mike's mom, like while you were fighting? Look, no, it was on Speaker 1 00:22:02 The calendar. Speaker 2 00:22:03 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:22:04 Like, you can't wait for these things. Speaker 2 00:22:06 Okay. Speaker 1 00:22:08 It's almost like waiting for it to do your honeymoon and then it just never ends up happening. Speaker 2 00:22:12 It is happening. How dare you. Speaker 1 00:22:14 Eventually Speaker 2 00:22:16 April Speaker 1 00:22:17 <laugh> like four years later. Speaker 2 00:22:19 So Speaker 1 00:22:20 The point is stuff comes up. So Yeah. I, anyway, I also would've liked if they had actually showed us Yolanda beating with her mom. You know, also Speaker 2 00:22:29 I wanted another scene with Cindy where they're like, sorry Cindy, thanks for saving my little brother. Speaker 1 00:22:35 Yeah. Yeah. And were Yeah, Yolanda and Cindy. Yolanda being like, I guess I was wrong about Cindy, about you. And Cindy's like, I guess I was wrong about you. Yeah. Well, she does sort of admit that when she's like, Sylvester encouraged me not to give Cindy, but Speaker 2 00:22:48 She doesn't, she doesn't say it to Cindy. Speaker 1 00:22:51 I understand that. I understand that. But I don't think, I don't think it's like something that has to be said. Speaker 2 00:22:58 Um, right. Speaker 1 00:22:58 You guys about everything being compressed, Speaker 2 00:23:01 Closure happen. Closure for the audience. Speaker 1 00:23:04 I mean, I closure about the Yolanda, Cindy relationship. Speaker 2 00:23:07 <laugh>? No, just about Cindy being back with the JSA in general. Because after that fight scene, she has no scenes besides with Mike. And Jake Ke with Yeah. But she get Courtney with anybody, Speaker 1 00:23:15 But she gets reference in the end with Michael. Speaker 2 00:23:17 Matt, come on. Come on Speaker 1 00:23:19 Alana, take your fire. Fine. Take your fire from behind. Speaker 2 00:23:22 Where? Speaker 1 00:23:23 I don't know, before we run outta time, I, Speaker 2 00:23:25 I would just have liked to see Cindy and the gang be forgiven. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:23:32 We get back together. Yeah. Yeah. The Stinger implies that they are. Of course. But Right. Wouldn't Nice. Didn't nice to have seen that. Yeah. All right. So anyway, back to, uh, star girl. Speaker 2 00:23:42 Yeah. So Mike meets his mom at the diner and when he gets back in the car and he is like, thanks mom. I was like crying. Aw. It was really sweet. Speaker 1 00:23:52 Aw, that's nice. Speaker 2 00:23:53 Aw. Speaker 1 00:23:54 Uh, just to go back for a second Speaker 2 00:23:55 Though. I, me and Amy smart crying together. Speaker 1 00:23:57 I really didn't like, uh, Jordan's first death. It's like he and Cameron disappear on a cloud of smoke and then his face goes up into the sky. Yeah. Like an leaves the Hulk. Speaker 2 00:24:09 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:24:10 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:24:10 That wasn't great. Yeah. It wasn't, it wasn't great. Speaker 1 00:24:12 No, it was quite bad. It was objectively it was, it was really quite bad. And then, and then I, you know, I I, I did like the transition where Pat loses stripe and uh, Joel Mihail loses staff rod. So then it's like a good old fashioned fist fight. It's like, this is what superheroes are all about. I like that part. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. I didn't like the part where he hits up with a rock and he dies. Speaker 2 00:24:37 <laugh>. I did. Speaker 1 00:24:39 Why? Because Speaker 2 00:24:40 It's like, go pat. I don't know. Speaker 1 00:24:42 It's like the knot without my daughter. You bitch from Yeah. Harry Potter. Which for some reason everyone loves, but I'm not, I can't say I'm a fan Speaker 2 00:24:52 That that person in the cloud is going so fast. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:24:56 Yeah. They're way up there. Speaker 2 00:24:58 Yeah. Well those clouds like kill you if you don't jump off. I think that would be a good risk reward. Speaker 1 00:25:06 So what about the staff going back in the box? You guys have any Speaker 2 00:25:10 Thoughts on that? Whatever. I was like, ok. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:25:13 I dunno. Use your time. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. In the final episode. Speaker 2 00:25:16 Yeah. I mean, I did like the scene where, cuz it's like Pat explains the thing he talks about this past is Sylvester Courtney says some nice stuff. He's like, I heard you talking to Sylvester. I mean, not Sylvester. And they have a nice moment. Speaker 1 00:25:29 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:25:30 It's nice. It's, but yeah, the whole thing of Cosmo going back in its box is like, okay, whatever. Speaker 1 00:25:36 Yeah, yeah, yeah. I, yeah, I was a big fan of that. So court goes to see Becky and I have to admit, I did not remember who Becky was for quite a while. Oh, I did Speaker 2 00:25:45 <laugh>. Oh, I did. Yeah. We were like, uh, the gambler's daughter. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:25:49 But like, it ne it really never came off for several episodes until now. Speaker 2 00:25:53 That's true. However, I did like that they did it. Cuz if they didn't, we would be talking about, hey, remember the gamblers daughter? They never wrapped that up. Hey Speaker 1 00:26:01 Remember And her sister. Speaker 2 00:26:02 But I Speaker 1 00:26:02 Also feel, I also feel like it could have been equally resolved if she had just, if she had just like showed her, like looking her up on the internet and writing it down in a letter, like another envelope for the letter and sending it like, Speaker 2 00:26:17 You need a whole thing. That's what Courtney does. Courtney doesn't. She whole ased it. Yeah. And half-assed Speaker 1 00:26:22 Also. It's like, it's very emotional. Also Alana I believe made the point that this is who the J s A R that they win their battles, but their big hearts. Yeah. Not just with punching. Also, Speaker 2 00:26:32 She could just fly there with a cosmic rut. So like whatever. Speaker 1 00:26:35 No, she was, she had to walk in her little miniskirt and an umbrella down like the shitty road Speaker 2 00:26:40 <laugh>. Well, with Speaker 1 00:26:41 No car <laugh>. Yeah. Man. Also, she couldn't just look Becky Sharp up on the internet. You don't think the gambler tried that? Well then how'd she find her? If the gambler can't find her, how could Courtney With the JSA database? Speaker 2 00:26:52 Yeah. With Dr. Midnight's goggles. Speaker 1 00:26:54 Dr. Midnight. The goggles. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:26:55 The goggles. Speaker 1 00:26:57 Um, has Mike. So in the part where Hij comes out, my jay comes out of the, uh, diner. He calls Barb mom. Has he done that? Has he done that before? Speaker 2 00:27:05 No. Speaker 3 00:27:06 Never. Speaker 1 00:27:06 Okay. I didn't think so. Speaker 2 00:27:09 Jay, did you cry? Speaker 3 00:27:11 I did. Little tear up. I had a little, little dribble Speaker 1 00:27:15 Tears. It's a little single manly tear. Speaker 3 00:27:17 Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. It was very sweet. Speaker 2 00:27:18 Jay, you gonna miss Amy? Smart. Speaker 3 00:27:20 I am going to miss Amy. Smart. Speaker 1 00:27:23 Yeah. But it never ends. It's never actually the end. Never the end. No one's ever really gone. And it is definitely the end of the star girl. Shell we'll Speaker 2 00:27:34 Say. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:27:35 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:27:36 So, so Jay, so Speaker 2 00:27:37 We also wrap up Beth. Oh, what Speaker 1 00:27:39 I was gonna say, Jay, do you have any thoughts on what we've covered so far? One, Speaker 2 00:27:42 Like, should we finish or it's cover then Speaker 3 00:27:44 Up. Speaker 1 00:27:45 All right. Fine. Yeah. It goes to see Grundy. For those of you who are worried about what happened, I was Speaker 2 00:27:49 Talking about, about Beth. Speaker 1 00:27:50 Beth, whatever. That hasn't happened yet. Speaker 2 00:27:52 Yes, it Speaker 1 00:27:52 Has All fine. Whatever. Speaker 2 00:27:54 Beth talks to her parents and how she wants her parents to be your sidekicks. Speaker 1 00:27:58 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:27:58 And also Rick, Rick apologizes for being a dick Speaker 1 00:28:01 <laugh>. Right. Um, so, so the dad, Beth's dad was like, let's talk costumes. I have all kinds of ideas. So I thought he meant they were going to change Dr. Midnight's costume to something more hip and whip. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:28:15 Yeah. But then Speaker 1 00:28:16 No, then not what he meant. He meant their costumes. Speaker 2 00:28:18 Oh, he meant theirs. I think there knife tag. I think both. No. Speaker 1 00:28:22 Well, Alana, if that's the case, then we never got to see Dr. Midnight's new costume. I wanted to see it. Speaker 2 00:28:27 I thought it was a reference to Beth Chapel's costume Infinity and Comics, which is very weird. And like yellow and like, do you remember? It's like black and yellow Beth Chapel's costume Speaker 1 00:28:38 Chapel. Why don't wearing It's Speaker 2 00:28:40 In the comics. In the comics. Yeah. It's like totally different from the normal Dr. Midnight. Speaker 3 00:28:44 Is it? Speaker 2 00:28:45 Yeah. Here, let me, uh, when I'm sure when I land Speaker 1 00:28:48 It's, I'm sure it's a more traditional superhero costume. I think we're getting off tar of track. Speaker 2 00:28:54 Whatever. It's Speaker 3 00:28:54 Not so frumpy. Speaker 2 00:28:55 The point is, in this scene, Rick apologizes and he is like, you go ahead Beth. And Beth pours her hard and he's like rubbing her back. You Chris, see that? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:29:03 There's a lot of touching. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:29:06 He's like, they're there Beth. And then later we find out they're getting married. I was like, gross. Speaker 3 00:29:11 Terrible. Speaker 1 00:29:11 Rick's true love is why you guys hate love Rick's one. True love is Grundy. Everybody knows that. Speaker 2 00:29:17 <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:29:17 Rick is great gay for Grandi. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:29:20 I really feel zero romantic tension between them at all. They, Speaker 1 00:29:24 They get, they care about each other though. Speaker 2 00:29:26 Sure. But not in like a what a bang kind of way. Well, Speaker 3 00:29:29 But also this moment because Speaker 1 00:29:31 Yeah. Rick also should have gone for Yolanda. I think she's way more attractive. Speaker 2 00:29:34 Whoa. That's Hey, now Speaker 1 00:29:36 And more to the opinion. More to the point. I felt like he and Yolanda were more on the same wavelength. Mm. Which is to say they both enjoy hitting things. Yes. Speaker 3 00:29:45 Yeah. But that's until he learns better Speaker 1 00:29:48 <laugh> until he changes. But when he's not gonna change, he's our man and he stays our man for 10 years. Speaker 3 00:29:53 Yeah. But he doesn't always need to punch things like he realizes he can control himself. He doesn't have Speaker 1 00:29:59 To be snack Speaker 3 00:29:59 Sometimes too. And Beth is the one who leads him there. Hence the blooming love that grows Speaker 1 00:30:06 Hourly. Oh, Anna, stop texting. Speaker 2 00:30:09 I'm not texting. I was putting Beth Chapel in Discord yet. So Jay can see. Okay. Speaker 1 00:30:13 Oh, okay. Yeah. It looks positively generic. Anyway, did you guys, did you guys remember what the, their superhero nicknames were? Speaker 2 00:30:24 What? Who? Oh no. Were like Speaker 1 00:30:26 They their parents. They were what? Hootie at Nightlight. Oh, Speaker 2 00:30:31 Hootie. Speaker 1 00:30:31 I love that. <laugh>. Yeah. At Nightlight. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:30:34 Nightlight. I like it. I like it. All right. They're freaking Speaker 3 00:30:36 Forgive is gonna be glow in the dark. <laugh> Speaker 1 00:30:39 A little, a little bait for all the, uh, GSA fans. Jeff Johns fans. Yeah. Yep. I'll take it. I'll take that DMR on a nice try. Speaker 2 00:30:49 No, I slid <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:30:54 Uh, yeah. So that was, so that was great. And then, so according to my notes, the part with Grundy is before that, but it doesn't Speaker 2 00:30:59 Work. Okay. Whatever. Um, this is all the wrap up stuff together. Okay. Right. Yeah. And part with Grundy is like really low budget and Rick's reaction is like kind of weird. Speaker 1 00:31:09 I didn't, Speaker 2 00:31:09 He's like, oh you son, I'm a bitch. Speaker 1 00:31:11 He's not a very good actor. A lot <laugh>. Oh, part of what you expected. Speaker 3 00:31:16 But it's also very Rick. That is absolutely what it was. So, so, uh, you, you got me buddy. Speaker 1 00:31:23 You so and so <laugh>. Oh, it didn't really make sense why Grundy would come back. Now he comes back when he comes back. Yeah. Yeah. I guess that's true. He Speaker 2 00:31:35 Should been back. He came back Cause the show needed a wrap up. Speaker 1 00:31:37 Should have been like, it's Monday. Speaker 2 00:31:40 <laugh> Speaker 1 00:31:40 Don't meet Jack Knight. Is it Monday back on Dear Old Earth? Because it's your, feels like my birthday guys six his hand out. <laugh>. Yeah. That would've been awesome. Uh, yep. And question. We have the nice family dinner, which I liked cuz they do that throughout the show. Speaker 2 00:31:59 Okay. They did, but they didn't have enough seats for everybody. I was like, this is gonna be a problem. Speaker 1 00:32:03 Yeah. Alana was really bothered by that Speaker 2 00:32:05 <laugh>. Oh my God. Yeah. It was really bothered. Classic. Speaker 3 00:32:08 Go the kitty Speaker 1 00:32:09 Table. I'm so glad I don't watch this with y'all. Speaker 2 00:32:11 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:32:14 Honestly, Cindy is at the kids' table. Speaker 2 00:32:16 Yeah. Right. Yeah. But j is a stars. Speaker 1 00:32:19 She still gets no respect. Yeah. Like, like we talked about Yolanda, let's go Alana. Yolanda wes up with her mom. Speaker 2 00:32:27 Oh, she, she tried to <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:32:29 I think she will. Speaker 2 00:32:31 I don't know. Her mom really suck. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:32:36 Yeah. Yeah. And then Courtney has a scene with Cameron where Cameron's like, I'm leaving, blah. I think, I think it's clear that the writers didn't know how to resolve the, with Cameron. They just had him leave. But they didn't, they didn't resolve it. Cuz he joins the jsa. Speaker 2 00:32:51 Wait, what's the scene where he is like, can you really help me? And then they hug. Is that after Speaker 1 00:32:55 This? Oh yeah. Yeah. That's after. Yeah, that's after. Oh, is it after? I can't remember. Yeah. It's right before they go Flash two 10 years later. Yeah. And also just because he joins the JSA doesn't mean him and Courtney are No, I didn't say, I didn't say they're smushing. I didn't say they're bumping out there. I'm just saying that that's what happens to him. Right. Ultimately. Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:33:16 Zach, what's all these like outfits that you have? Speaker 1 00:33:19 <laugh>. It's just what I pick up. Speaker 2 00:33:23 How do you pick them up? Speaker 1 00:33:24 Am I playing the game and spending the money on a battle pass? So what'd you guys think about the part with Jordan in Denmark? Speaker 2 00:33:30 Uh, it's, Speaker 1 00:33:31 It's fantastic. Speaker 2 00:33:32 <laugh>. I mean, it was nice to see Artemis obviously. Yeah. It is a little questionable if the JSA is okay with like a stone cold murderer on their, Speaker 1 00:33:41 On their team. Well, I said they don't know that he's, she's a stone cold Speaker 2 00:33:44 Murderer. Sure. But it's also like we already killed Jordan once. Is this really murder to kill him for real. Is Speaker 1 00:33:49 Isn't that the whole point of the season though? Is that you could be friends with people that are like kind of questionable Frenemies. Yeah. <laugh>. Yeah. Exactly. Isn't that the whole resolute part of, you know, point of the series? Speaker 2 00:34:00 Yeah. I guess Speaker 1 00:34:03 Uhoh. Should we get outta here? You guys Speaker 2 00:34:04 Also? We, we really, I on the scene, she just called him Mr. McKen the whole time. Speaker 1 00:34:09 <laugh> <laugh> all, everybody out. Get out, get out. Speaker 2 00:34:14 This is for my parents. Mr. McKen. Speaker 1 00:34:16 <laugh>. Mr. McKen. I'm sorry Mr. McKen. Speaker 2 00:34:20 Oh, I'm down. Speaker 1 00:34:22 That's that. That's lightness. Speaker 2 00:34:24 Yeah. <laugh>. Her parents literally raised her. Well, Speaker 1 00:34:28 <laugh>, I I also just think it's funny. Do do, do all the kids call him Mr. McKen or just Artemis? I can't remember. Speaker 2 00:34:34 I think most like, mostly just call Icicle. Speaker 1 00:34:37 No, Courtney definitely calls him Jordan. Ow. Yeah. That's funny. Ow. Ow. Speaker 2 00:34:44 Oh. Speaker 1 00:34:45 Kinda like when you were a kid. I'm coming. Speaker 2 00:34:49 Um, one of the comments I saw on Reddit was like, but how did Artemis do it? Nebraska, <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:34:55 <laugh>. What do it Nebraska as the quarterback. Speaker 2 00:34:58 Yeah. As the quarterback. Speaker 1 00:34:59 Yeah. Oh, how'd she do? Yeah, they didn't, they didn't tell us. That's true. Wait, are, are we canceling so Jay can get in? Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:35:04 Definitely Go Speaker 1 00:35:05 To lock. I'm unlocking. Yeah, I'm logging in now. Okay. I'm waiting for her to bolt. Yeah, no, I, it's cool. They, they actually spent the budget to give her a new costume with this sweet, scary looking red eyes. You know who Artemis Art. Oh, Speaker 2 00:35:19 Artis. It looked the same. I Speaker 1 00:35:22 Didn't really like how, uh, you know, ice school's supposed to be like, I feel like she's, he's supposed to be the star girl. Big bad guy. So it's always a little bit unsatisfying when some other superhero or whatever Artemis is takes out. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> the big bad guy. It's, it's like if someone else kills the Joker Speaker 3 00:35:42 <laugh>, Speaker 1 00:35:43 You know Speaker 2 00:35:44 Yeah. Has Speaker 1 00:35:46 Which has been known to happen. Yeah. But he's always underwhelming. Not kill him, but take him to jail. Yeah. Take him to jail is okay. It's just so final. Speaker 3 00:35:56 Yeah. I don't know. But I mean, it did kind of set it up for a very dramatic finale ending. They certainly, they couldn't let, and they couldn't let the goody goodies ever do that. Speaker 1 00:36:11 Right. <laugh>, I mean I, I think everyone was okay with his first death <laugh> somehow, even if the shoulders weren't Yeah. Mike running 'em over Speaker 3 00:36:21 <laugh>. And I like how it's always cars that killed the McKenzie. Speaker 1 00:36:25 Yeah, that's true. That is, that's funny. I didn't think about that. But that is true. <laugh> cars are Arch Enemy cars. Water. Cameron's afraid of cars the rest of his life. <laugh>, he's like, somewhere, somewhere out there. There's a car with my name on it. This is waiting for me. Speaker 2 00:36:41 This car was made for me. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:36:45 Okay, so then we have the 10 year jump to the JSA Museum. Best part of the episode. I agree. So, but Alana had an issue with this. Alana. Speaker 2 00:36:54 Well I was like, excuse me. The shade would never be cut Dead curating a museum giving tours to for being a tour. Normal people. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:37:02 I do agree. I certainly agree. Speaker 3 00:37:05 100. Speaker 1 00:37:06 There's really no depiction of the shade where he's that pro superhero. Right. Slash neutered. Speaker 2 00:37:12 Right. Slash having a normal job. Speaker 1 00:37:15 My explanation is that he was in a good mood that day. <laugh>. But he's wearing a name tag. A name Speaker 2 00:37:22 Tag. What? What does the name tag say? Did it say a shade? Speaker 1 00:37:25 It said it said Richard. Speaker 2 00:37:27 Oh, okay. No, Speaker 3 00:37:28 He showed. Yeah. Think about how it'll ruin his outfit. I mean, he's putting a hole in his beloved suit. Come on. Speaker 1 00:37:33 No, it's this sticker. Okay. He showed up to the museum, he's like, hello, I am the shade. I am here. I would like to give a tour. And then like, okay, what's with a Coney accent? <laugh>. He's like, hello, I'm the Shade and I'm ready to give a tour. My name is the Shade. I'm here to give a tour like that. Yeah. Yeah. And then he knows all. Yeah, I guess that's true. It just, would it better if, is that, would it been better if it was the, the Shade's diary? Yeah. Wait, actually there is a depiction of the shade. Remember the one where it's in like the super far future and he's telling stories to the kids on that far off like alien world. Of course, of course. Yeah. So he is nice in that version. It just takes like 10,000 years Speaker 3 00:38:14 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:38:15 Right. It should've been 10,000 years later. Anyway. So we liked Dragon Queen. Speaker 2 00:38:20 Yeah. A Speaker 1 00:38:21 Lot. Reallys. Cool. Cool. Speaker 2 00:38:22 Yeah, I thought, I actually thought it was nice. Shiv is one of those characters that's like, you know, they never do anything with her in the comics. Like, oh, we're gonna fight Shiv in this today. Okay. Speaker 1 00:38:32 It's very much the villain of the week. Yeah. I thought you guys would wouldn't like that. Literally everybody joins the jsa, Speaker 2 00:38:38 Eh? Nah. Speaker 1 00:38:40 <laugh>. Okay. Speaker 2 00:38:42 Yeah. I like the, of course The Sandman. Did they call him Sandman or Sand? I Speaker 1 00:38:48 Called him Sand and staring me off. Speaker 2 00:38:49 Well, sand is his name in the Speaker 1 00:38:52 New in the Jeff John's jsa. The Definitive JSA of which all others pale in comparison. He sand. Speaker 2 00:38:58 Well maybe although Speaker 1 00:38:59 He, although he changes to Sandman, right. Zack After Jeff John Speaker 2 00:39:01 Leaves. Yeah. Yeah he does. That's right. He kalana worse. I read that, that era of comics. And he was way worse than Sandman. He was very moody. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and like Lame when he sand, he's like the leader of the JSA and he bangs hot girl <laugh>. So it's way better. Doesn't Speaker 1 00:39:20 He like shape and he like shape chefs and stuff. Yeah. And he doesn't have and he doesn't have the dream powers, Speaker 2 00:39:24 Right? Speaker 1 00:39:25 Yeah. Speaker 2 00:39:25 Yeah. Oh yeah. He's so moody cuz of all the dreams he has. Yeah. So Speaker 1 00:39:29 Like, he's like, I'm, he's like I'm burdened with future knowledge. Speaker 2 00:39:31 Yeah. Cursed with knowledge. Speaker 1 00:39:33 No one knows my pain. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:39:35 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:39:36 Does this game taking forever to Speaker 2 00:39:38 Load? It did, but the first time my, Speaker 1 00:39:40 Yeah, it does. The first time you'll catch up. Nobody ever makes the first time. So. Yeah. So Rick and Beth get together. Speaker 2 00:39:46 Gross. Speaker 1 00:39:47 I <laugh>. I had, I didn't super see it com. You knew he was gonna get with one of 'em. Speaker 2 00:39:51 Yeah, sure. And you knew Speaker 1 00:39:52 It wasn't gonna be Courtney. It's gonna be Grundy. But they couldn't do it. They're not brave enough. Speaker 2 00:39:58 No. And they'll be like, there's this other character, Liberty Bell from Flash. Jesse Quick. Remember her? She's, she's the jsa. Speaker 1 00:40:04 Oh my god. Jesse Quick is so attractive. Speaker 2 00:40:07 <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:40:08 Yeah. Rick wishes he, yeah. That would be the plot of Star Girls season four, 10 years later he's like, Liberty Bell comes along and he's like, Wawa wa then Rick. But you didn't see that with your goggles Beth. And then Beth is like, oh Rick, I don't like you looking at other women. You know, psycho tics and too Speaker 2 00:40:29 Yeah. They also name drop damage. Speaker 1 00:40:32 Yes. Speaker 2 00:40:33 Yeah. And the who? They Adam smash. I don't, I don't remember who else Speaker 1 00:40:39 I think didn't on everybody that they named Drop. Yeah. There was one. I more Speaker 2 00:40:43 Like two there. There was one more. Yeah, there was definitely Speaker 1 00:40:45 One more. Yeah. I like the images of everybody including Jaheem and the Thunderball standing back to back. I didn't notice that there Speaker 2 00:40:52 Needed to be more images though. Like why didn't they just show us a group shot? Like get some artists together. Show us, you know? Yeah. You get that. Be lazy Facebook Speaker 1 00:41:00 Bullshit of You needed a paint like the isa. Speaker 2 00:41:03 Yeah. I wanted to see that <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:41:08 Um, that was, I gotta go to bed again. Do you think that's a bot? Speaker 2 00:41:12 Yeah, probably. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:41:15 Alana, you with us? Speaker 2 00:41:17 No. Speaker 1 00:41:18 Okay. So, so we get the whole thing. We, we get the jsa, they had many adventures. They saved Sylvester Pemberton. So that was Yeah. From his brain and from his brain in the jar. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And then, and then the flash shows up, which I dunno. Amazing. Wait, Speaker 2 00:41:36 Wait. Before the flash, the shade also name drops a bunch of adventures. Speaker 1 00:41:40 Oh, Nebula Man is another person. Speaker 2 00:41:41 A Nebula man. Speaker 1 00:41:42 That's a, that's a villain though. Speaker 3 00:41:46 Is it? Speaker 1 00:41:47 Yeah. They say he, they fight the Nebula man. They see like, they go into another dimension and fight. Mysterious villain called the Nebula. Man. I thought they were Speaker 3 00:41:53 Gonna The Greatest Enemy or some Speaker 1 00:41:55 Bs. Yeah, I thought they were gonna say extant cuz that's the one that they fight in a different and kills dimension. Yeah. Hmm. So I dunno what to say about that. It was great. Speaker 2 00:42:09 So, so star say this is the lineup. Starw woven Wildcat jade, obsidian dragon, queen Stripe 2.0 J ke thunder ice school. Artemis Sand damaged Salmon, granny Hourman and Dr. Midnight. Speaker 1 00:42:20 Yeah. Jsa. Speaker 2 00:42:22 Jsa. It's a lot of people. Speaker 1 00:42:24 <laugh>. It's almost as big as the JSA and the Jeff Johns run. Right? Yeah. Which is pretty big as well. That's why they split. Yep. Yeah. Uh, okay. So the, yeah, the flash shows up and he says there's some, uh, you know, problem that we need the JSA to help with. And then it says never the end. He's like, even you old friend. Even the shade, the shade is like, yeah. You get a little bit of the edgy shade when he is like, is it ever over? Yeah. So I like that too. I do you think that's some meta commentary that superheroes aren't allowed to have their stories and Speaker 2 00:43:01 Uhhuh <affirmative>? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:43:02 That's probably a little bit. Yes. Absolutely. Well, it's like that it's a never ending battle and there's always another threat. Another threat, yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. And then, but I actually don't like that it was that ambiguous because it does make me feel like there's, there's gonna be more. Right. Like they knew Thes, they knew the show was over. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, they could have ended it, ended it in a sa in a like satisfying way. Like I would've been perfectly satisfied if they had been like, if they had the seat with in the JSA museum and, and they're like, everything's and you know, everything's great and they're gonna go fight the end, but instead they made it. That's what they did. I mean, that's not that different from what Yeah, well, but, but it leaves you, it, I guess they always say leave, leave them wanting more. Right. Speaker 3 00:43:51 Doesn't necessarily leave you wanting more, but it gives you like the notion that they're fully illegitimate team. They're all settled, they're ready to rock and they're now Yeah. Doing their thing. It's now routine Speaker 1 00:44:04 For them. But I wanted to see what's gonna happen with Shade and, and if the Flash, what are they gonna go do? Yo, actually, dude, it's funny you that reminds me of the Super Mario Brother movie. Gotta gotta, that reminds you of the Super Mario Brothers movie. So at the end of the Super Mario Brothers movie with Bob Hoskins, they show da Princess Daisy coming through a pipe and she's like, Mario Luigi, I need your help again. And they all jumped through the pipe and that's the end of the movie. So the critics are like, oh man, this was, they were so arrogant, the movie producers cause they were setting up a sequel that obviously never got made. But when I watched it way back when, I just thought it was like, use your imagination about what this crazy new adventure is. Speaker 2 00:44:48 Hmm. Speaker 3 00:44:49 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:44:49 What do you think Speaker 3 00:44:50 Happened? Continuation of Hi Jinx, Speaker 1 00:44:52 Right? Yeah. I guess that's Joe. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. I guess that's Joe. It's kinda like, uh, you to go back to the future. Speaker 3 00:45:00 Yeah. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:45:02 Your kids. Speaker 1 00:45:04 Mari Speaker 3 00:45:06 We gotta go. Speaker 2 00:45:07 Did we talk about the Doctor Midnight cameo? Speaker 1 00:45:11 No, he didn't. Dumb. I had nothing to say Dom. Speaker 2 00:45:14 I liked It's Dr. Midnight. Speaker 1 00:45:17 I, I like the part where he just stands there. Like there's a part where they're like figuring something out and he just like stands there like mm-hmm. <affirmative>, Speaker 2 00:45:24 He's like, yes. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, we should keep the body on life support. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, Speaker 1 00:45:28 They're like, what do you think we should do? And he is like, yeah, he's just standing there like a goon. He's like, Hey guys, I'm Dr. Midnight. I'm here too. Yeah. I, I did not think it was necessary. Speaker 2 00:45:39 Oh. I liked it. And I thought we were gonna get more cameos and then we didn't. So that was kind of bummer. Uh, Speaker 1 00:45:46 No obsidian. Speaker 2 00:45:47 Yeah. No jade, no sand. Oh wow. No, nothing. No. Yeah, no nothing about nobody. There Speaker 1 00:45:56 Wouldn't have been a sand cameo. He's not, he wasn't in Speaker 2 00:45:58 The show. Okay. Whatever. I like him, wanted him to be on the show. Speaker 1 00:46:02 Yeah, me too. Speaker 2 00:46:04 Um, yep. Everything. Speaker 1 00:46:11 That's the end of Star Girl. Yeah. That's the end of our beloved star girl. Yeah. It would never, probably never be a JSA thing quite like it, except that Speaker 2 00:46:20 A black Adam movie, Speaker 1 00:46:21 A black Adam movie. Apparently now they are coming back. Speaker 2 00:46:24 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:46:25 So yeah. The, the jsa I don't think are gonna be gone. The store girl as we know it is another story. Yeah. Okay. So Jay was arrived late. So Jay, any thoughts on the finale? Speaker 3 00:46:38 Um, no, I mean, like I've said, I, I actually liked the way they ended it. It felt very satisfying. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. Um, overall how they ended it. Um, the fight was interesting. It was kind of, you Speaker 1 00:46:57 Liked the, you liked the end fight. Speaker 3 00:46:59 It was comical. It was kind of good, Speaker 1 00:47:02 Good comical. I dunno if that's what they were going for, but Yeah. Speaker 3 00:47:07 Are you sure that's not what they were going for? Speaker 1 00:47:09 Maybe someone party Serious, dramatic. Speaker 3 00:47:14 It was, yeah. Speaker 1 00:47:15 I don't know. Speaker 3 00:47:17 I, I appreciate their setup. Uh, I like the face off. It was very match ups, comic Booky. <laugh>. Yeah. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>. It was very comic bookish. Um, and uh, Speaker 2 00:47:32 How come the chess are lit up? Sorry. Speaker 1 00:47:35 It's, uh, power, it's a thing. Speaker 2 00:47:37 Oh, Speaker 3 00:47:40 It's, uh, yeah. Uh, what else to say about this? Speaker 1 00:47:47 So just like, seems like you really liked it. What? Yeah. A few things that we touched on. Mike being reunited with his mom and Yolanda being reunited with her mom baby. Speaker 3 00:47:55 Her mom not reunited with her mom. Speaker 1 00:47:57 Well, not on screen, but it's implied. Speaker 2 00:47:59 Un no, it's unclear. Speaker 3 00:48:01 It's definitely not implied. It's definitely Speaker 1 00:48:05 Ambiguous. You guys. Everything else gets wrapped up in a nice bow. You think that's the one thing Ill and Wildcat, uh, has, you know, Speaker 2 00:48:12 And Wildcat still has a fraught relationship with her parents. Speaker 1 00:48:15 Wildcats mother went to the grave disavowing her for Vigo. Who Speaker 2 00:48:19 For being Yes. She sure. For being, uh, for doing, uh, child porn or whatever she did. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:48:25 Yeah, Speaker 3 00:48:25 Yeah. Or showing some naughty bits. Speaker 1 00:48:29 That was a great episode too. Season, season Speaker 2 00:48:32 One, season two. Like, I think if we went back and watched them, we'd be like, wow, these are way better than season three. <laugh>. I think season three as a whole kinda really big issue Speaker 1 00:48:41 Season. I don't remember season two being that much of the cat's pajamas either, to be honest. Speaker 2 00:48:45 Season one was fantastic. Speaker 1 00:48:47 Season one was fantastic. Yeah. <laugh>, it's just like the Flash. Speaker 2 00:48:50 Yep. Speaker 1 00:48:51 Just like all these, well, Speaker 2 00:48:52 The Flash season two was also very good with Earth two. Speaker 1 00:48:56 Uh, yeah. I guess that's Joe. Speaker 2 00:48:58 Yeah. Oh, I have a, I have a, I have a little unpopular opinion. Speaker 1 00:49:04 Mm-hmm. Speaker 2 00:49:04 <affirmative>. I don't like John Wesley ship as Jake. Speaker 1 00:49:08 That is unpopular opinion. Yeah. Speaker 2 00:49:11 He is like Jay Garrick's, like your cool grandpa and he's like, kind of like Alan Scott's the stiff, like kind of Ruley grandpa. Mm-hmm. <affirmative> and Jay Garris is like your fun grandpa and John Wesley ship is, is stiff and, and not not fun. Speaker 1 00:49:29 I agree. Especially, especially agree. He would, he would not be my first choice of, of, of flash. Flash of the, of the J Flash. I agree. But I think at this point he pretty much owns the role, so. Speaker 2 00:49:43 Sure. Yeah. I mean, yeah. Speaker 3 00:49:45 Yep. Forever. Speaker 1 00:49:47 Jay Storm. Yeah. Especially in that depiction of, um, in that funeral Speaker 3 00:49:54 Hit Speaker 2 00:49:55 That guy with the car Speaker 1 00:49:58 Hia, the jsa, uh, whose funeral was it? I forget. Well, where he's like, come on guys, we gotta go kill obsidian or not obsidian. What? Um, eclipse. So he's like, we gotta go kill that guy who's in the body. Speaker 2 00:50:11 Oh yeah, yeah. Bruce Gordon. Speaker 1 00:50:12 Yeah. He is like, we have to go kill Bruce Gordon. Seriously, Speaker 2 00:50:15 Waitley ship was in that scene. Yeah, Speaker 1 00:50:17 Yeah. Yeah. He absolutely was. He shows up at the end, I think. Speaker 2 00:50:21 Oh. Oh, I died again. Wow. I'm terrible. Speaker 3 00:50:24 Like Rick, Speaker 1 00:50:25 He's a record. Honestly, he's not a very, John Chip is not a very good actor. Speaker 2 00:50:29 Yeah. He's not to be honest. No, no, I agree. Harsh. No, it's true Speaker 1 00:50:34 Irish, but fair. Uh, alright. Right. So how, so how do we feel about the season as a whole? How do you feel about the series as a whole? I still love the series. Series Speaker 2 00:50:44 Is great. Season was not great. Speaker 1 00:50:47 I think, I think, I think it was fine. I think if you go back and watch it, I think the stuff with Joel <inaudible> was good. I think the stuff, obviously there's lots of Sports Master Alana, Speaker 2 00:50:55 So Yeah, that's true. But I know how it ends now. I won't be able to enjoy it. Speaker 1 00:50:59 What? No, I don't, I don't agree. I think you can sludge it. Speaker 2 00:51:02 What's, what's this jellyfish? I Speaker 1 00:51:03 Don't know. Speaker 3 00:51:04 Ooh, so many cookies. Speaker 1 00:51:06 So I think it ends, I think it ends on a strong note. I, sorry, I was canceled. I look back on it and I'm happy with it. You know, from an autographing perspective, I'd still be willing to collect it. Some shows, you know, they end and you don't want to collect them because of how they ended. But Speaker 2 00:51:23 Like, game of Thrones, Speaker 1 00:51:24 Like Game Thrones, <laugh>. Yeah. Like Game of Thrones is a good example. Well, endings are tough. Speaker 3 00:51:29 They're actually, Speaker 1 00:51:31 But, but the truly great shows are able to have great endings. That's what makes them great. Speaker 3 00:51:35 And that's what we Speaker 1 00:51:37 Got. Like how I met your mother. What <laugh>? Is that a joke? Speaker 2 00:51:41 Not that <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:51:43 Yeah, that was joke. I Speaker 3 00:51:44 Would say this ending is definitely better. <laugh> Speaker 1 00:51:46 No, no. How I Met Your Mother is an example of a show that people like, but then it, the ending was really, really bad. And therefore nobody, pretty much nobody likes it anymore. Yeah. People don't talk about it anymore. Speaker 2 00:51:58 Yeah. Well there is the sequel show that's on now. Speaker 1 00:52:01 Who watches that though? Speaker 2 00:52:02 I apparently got rid renewed for a second season. So people are apparently watching Speaker 1 00:52:06 Ite. Uh, yeah. All right, so I guess that's it for Star Girl. Time for question? Speaker 2 00:52:14 Yeah. All right. P Star girl, but we'll, you know, we're gonna have, uh, they're gonna be on Titans, so we can hang out with Star Girl again soon for just a little bit. Speaker 1 00:52:24 Not am swinging. They will or Star Girl. Star Speaker 2 00:52:29 Girl's gonna be on Titans, Speaker 1 00:52:30 The rest of them. Who knows Speaker 2 00:52:32 The rest. Yeah. I don't know about anyone else. Speaker 1 00:52:34 Good job, guys. All right, let's do questions. Let's, let's wrap this up. All right. Alright, question number one. Would you rather be stabbed or shot? Oh my God, definitely shot. Speaker 2 00:52:49 Uh, Speaker 3 00:52:50 Stabbed. Speaker 2 00:52:52 Probably stabbed. It's gonna be a shallower probably. And it won't, it won't like bounce around your body. <laugh>. Yeah. Speaker 1 00:52:59 Wait, is the question, would you be sta rather be stabbed to death or shot to death? Because if it's No, not to death, just stab. Speaker 2 00:53:06 Just either. So which one do you think is you're more likely to survive? Speaker 1 00:53:09 Oh, well then it would be stabbed. Yeah. You're more likely to survive it. What if it's like a through and throw? Well, what if it's not, Speaker 2 00:53:16 If it's not, Speaker 1 00:53:17 Well then me, a through and through might be better than getting stabbed. Hmm. It's not worth taking stabs. Speaker 3 00:53:22 Well, the, the stab could be a through and through, Speaker 1 00:53:24 Right through the, the fatty part of your arm. Yeah. I don't know. I'm just asking. That's the question. <laugh>. Yeah, ask the question. Speaker 3 00:53:36 It's definitely step Speaker 1 00:53:39 When, when's the question gonna be in live action? CW verse, Speaker 2 00:53:42 Who the question? Yeah. Wasn't the question on Arrow? Speaker 1 00:53:45 Should have been on Bat Woman? I'm sure the question was on Bat Woman. All right, next, next question. <laugh>. So we all grease down. Very good. Okay. Yes. What's something that you were really good at as a child, but you're bad at now? Speaker 2 00:53:59 Hmm. Uh, cart cartwheels. Speaker 1 00:54:02 <laugh>. When was the last time you tried to do a cartwheel? I You must I Speaker 2 00:54:04 I can't. No. I promise I can't do it. <laugh>. <laugh>. Speaker 1 00:54:08 I dunno. I think we need to put this to the test. Speaker 3 00:54:12 We're Speaker 1 00:54:12 Good with a lot of you were good at them. As a child, Speaker 2 00:54:14 I think I was fine at them, but now I can't do them. Speaker 3 00:54:19 <laugh> Do what? Speaker 2 00:54:20 Cartwheel. Cartwheel. Speaker 3 00:54:22 What? You can't do a Cartwheel? Speaker 2 00:54:25 No. Can you? Yeah. Speaker 1 00:54:26 There's no way. Yeah. Right. I bet you're better at a, I bet you're better at a cartwheel now. I mean, come on. When kids do cartwheels, they look terrible. Speaker 2 00:54:32 I think I was ok. Speaker 3 00:54:34 I'm pretty sure I could still do a round, round off, Speaker 1 00:54:39 Uh, roundhouse kick. Speaker 2 00:54:40 No. Round off. It's a different, Speaker 3 00:54:42 It's a type hands. Speaker 1 00:54:44 Is that the cartwheel where you like land on your feet basically? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:54:47 It's, it's, no, it's where your feet are together. Speaker 3 00:54:49 Yeah. Together. And you're facing the way you came. Speaker 2 00:54:52 Yeah. Speaker 1 00:54:53 Okay. Yeah. Speaker 3 00:54:54 And listen into, Speaker 1 00:54:56 Yeah. Yeah. Guys, I was talking to one of our Jmi Mutual friends and he is apparently taking a handstand class. Do you take a hold class for that? Yeah. Speaker 2 00:55:05 Why? Do you have a whole class for that? Speaker 1 00:55:07 Apparently you do <laugh>. I think it's a form of exercise. Speaker 3 00:55:12 They're very, very retiring. Speaker 1 00:55:14 I'm sure they are. I'm sure they're Thanks <laugh>. But, uh, it seems like you could have just watched a YouTube video and gotten the same results. Well, Speaker 3 00:55:21 I mean, the cla well, I mean, proper form so you don't hurt yourself and Yeah. Speaker 1 00:55:26 YouTube, YouTube Speaker 3 00:55:27 Video ballots properly. Mm-hmm. Speaker 1 00:55:29 <affirmative>. Yeah. You YouTube can't see what you're doing. Speaker 3 00:55:32 I can't give you insta feedback. Speaker 1 00:55:34 That's what Mark Zuckerberg would like you to think. Yeah, not yet. Speaker 2 00:55:38 Okay. Who else? Speaker 1 00:55:40 So I will say the ropes course. Oh, yeah. Or the, or the monkey bars. Although Zach's still pretty good at the monkey bars. Yeah. Yeah. I could still do it, but I'm sure I'm not as good. Uh, yeah. I, I I agree. Anything Height heights related. When I was a kid, I was very good about heights and now I'm like, the rope scores Yeah. Would reduce me to a pile of shive shivering fear. Speaker 2 00:56:04 Who did? Oh, my cruise sweat Speaker 3 00:56:06 Truck. Speaker 1 00:56:07 I was, wasn't nearly aslana. I was really scared. I'm not, I'm not gonna lie to you. I was really, really, really, really scared Speaker 2 00:56:13 What Speaker 1 00:56:16 You were in me. So, Matt, how do you feel about the last of us coming up? Does it have heights in it? That seems like a bit of a non-sequitur. No, it's Speaker 3 00:56:26 Zombies. Zombies. Speaker 2 00:56:27 It's something else you're afraid of. Speaker 1 00:56:29 <laugh>. Oh. Um, you know, it wouldn't have been my first choice of shows to watch. Okay. But I'll power through for you guys. I, Speaker 2 00:56:36 You could have said, I don't wanna watch that. Speaker 1 00:56:39 No, it's okay. I mean, I don't wanna dismiss it outta hand. It might be okay. You Speaker 2 00:56:44 Know, maybe there won't be that many zombies. Maybe it'll be like, humans were the problem the whole time. Speaker 3 00:56:49 <laugh> Cool. Aren't they always Speaker 2 00:56:50 Like 28 days later, Speaker 1 00:56:53 Guys form up on the PL truck. Speaker 3 00:56:56 There's two. Speaker 1 00:56:58 Yeah. Smash it. I'm by of hell. So you guys go ahead. All right. Uh, Matt, how, wait, did you say, are you agree with you about the ropes course? I don't really any better. Maybe like anything that involved exercise. Actually, actually, wait, when I was a teenager or in college, which is not a kid, but close enough. I was telling you guys before I was really good at Call of Duty. Exactly. I were both pretty good and, uh, yeah. I saw, yeah, I'm not very good. I can't imagine I would be any good now. Yeah. I I thought it's, college is obviously not a kid, but I also thought I was much better at HeroClix. I won the star o You won the star o. Yeah. I guess that's Joe. Hi guys. I got a, actually we don't need a, we don't need a vehicle. We could just run, uh, Jay, what did you say? Did you also say handstands or whatever car or car wheels? What Speaker 3 00:57:45 Was the actual question? Speaker 1 00:57:46 What's something you were good at as a child but you're bad at now? Speaker 3 00:57:50 Moderation. <laugh>. <laugh>. Speaker 2 00:57:53 You were good at that as a kid. Speaker 1 00:57:57 Dang, I just called you out. You be like, I think I've had enough Halloween candy. I'm gonna stop. Speaker 2 00:58:01 Yeah. I think I've had enough television. Just be like, Speaker 3 00:58:04 I'm full. And now I'm like, I'm full. And then I see it there like two minutes later. Like, I guess I could keep eating <laugh> or I'm like, I feel drunk. What? Let's, Speaker 1 00:58:16 Let's double dirt Speaker 2 00:58:16 Bikes. You feel drunk as a kid. And you stopped drinking Speaker 3 00:58:20 <laugh>? I did. I stopped drinking for yeah. 10 years. Speaker 1 00:58:26 Wow. From age 12 to 22. Speaker 3 00:58:30 <laugh> 11 to 21. Speaker 1 00:58:31 That's right. Speaker 2 00:58:33 But you were drinking before you were 11. Speaker 3 00:58:36 Oh yeah. Speaker 1 00:58:37 It's his way. Speaker 2 00:58:38 What? Really? And then on top of that, like in Korea, when we went to Korea and Coca-Cola was like $3 a bottle. Mm-hmm. <affirmative>, Papa of Wang was not having none of that. He was like, you have to out chug me and maybe I'll buy you a, because Bud Light was like a dollar a can Speaker 1 00:59:19 Right near me. Speaker 1 00:59:31 And you were like, you were like, I don't wanna have beer. I'd rather have Coke Speaker 3 00:59:37 Than Speaker 1 00:59:37 Making mes for drinking. Right. Speaker 3 00:59:40 By then, I was already a champ drinker, so I just pounded that thing. Like, I think I chugged in like five seconds and he was like, what the fuck was that?
